Step 1: Intro Session
Give us a call at 646.593.3030 to schedule your first visit! Your intro session will give you a clear picture of what exactly we do here, and it will also give us an accurate indicator of your current strengths and weaknesses so that we may structure a program that suits your needs accordingly. We work hard here, but we have a great time doing it! No matter what your background is, our community is incredibly welcoming and friendly and the workouts are extremely rewarding. There’s no reason to be nervous. This was new to all of us at some point!
We also have a very different attitude here compared to many other places. Our first focus is that you move correctly and efficiently. Our trainers will coach you, not yell at you to move faster or try and get you to do something you are not truly capable of doing. Our goal is to help you achieve the best of your abilities within your current limitations.
Step 2: Foundations Program
After coming in for your first workout/evaluation, next up is completing our Foundations Program. This course will bring you up to speed by teaching you the fundamentals of our training methods. During session 1 you will learn how to perform our baseline skill exercises (calisthenic progressions, rowing technique, and basic kettlebell movements), during session 2 you will learn the primary barbell movements (back squat, front squat, bench press, overhead press, jerk, deadlift), and during session 3 you'll learn proper execution of the Olympic lifts (the clean and the snatch). You will also be given an info package on proper nutrition and mobility exercises to improve your flexibility and performance.
Each session is approximately 45 minutes long, builds upon the previous day, and all 3 must be completed within one week. At the end of the three sessions, you will know how to perform every exercise that comes up during a workout and you’ll know how to scale exercises to your level of fitness. Foundations Program sessions can be scheduled at your time of choice during normal training hours. Our Foundations Program also includes a full two weeks of unlimited training.
Step 3: Group or Personal Training
After completing your Foundations Program, you may then participate in group sessions or you may continue with personal training depending on your personal needs and preferences. Group training fees vary from about $130.00 to $190.00 per month depending on your training frequency and length of commitment (minimum 3 month commitment required). Personal training rates vary per instructor. Discounts on unlimited group training available to Police, Fire, Military, students, teachers, couples, and seniors.
Terms and Conditions
This is pretty simple... Our training programs require 100% commitment. There are no returns, no refunds, and no payment holds. If you pay for a training period, you are expected to show up for that time and make yourself useful. Making a random disappearance or scheduling a vacation in the middle of your training cycle is a personal decision and is not our responsibility! The only two exceptions to this rule would occur if one of the following things happen:
1. You find some way to break yourself and are completely unable to work out.
2. You have a legitimate family emergency or a legitimate business obligation.
Furthermore, we don’t think this will happen much, but just in case, we reserve the right to:
1. Cancel your training session if you turn up more than 10 minutes late.
2. End your training session if you are determined to be a pain in the ass.
3. Terminate your training privileges at any time if you are a recurring pain in
the ass. (Should it come to this, we will refund you the pro-rated balance on
your membership. Determination of what constitutes a pain in the ass is at
the discretion of your coaches. We are extremely reasonable people, and
we would only make this determination if you have driven us to the EDGE!)
